The Brief
Our client was looking to create a pool area which is both modern but tied in with the styling of their country home. They wanted a space where they could relax, have fun with the family and host get-togethers with friends, while at the same time improving the aesthetics and value of their property.
The pool and surrounding patio area needed to blend in with the existing landscape and retain the natural beauty of the property’s design. It had to find the right balance between modern and rustic, with the pool being both an attractive standout feature, but not over-imposing amongst the rest of the landscaping.
The Design
The design of this pool reflects a sleek and contemporary style with clean lines and understated elegance. Measuring 11m x 4m, the rectangular pool is framed with smooth, light granite coping, which creates a striking contrast against the natural surroundings and the red-brick country house.
Adjacent to the pool, the expansive patio features durable, stylish slate tiles that provide ample space for sun loungers and outdoor furniture. The pool is strategically positioned to take advantage of the views from the house, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces. A covered pergola at one end of the patio offers a shaded area perfect for outdoor dining or relaxing after a swim.
The Challenges
One of the key challenges in this project was to design a pool that complemented the rustic charm of the countryside while incorporating modern features. Ensuring the pool and patio fit naturally within the existing landscape required careful planning, particularly in managing the transition from the grassy lawn to the sleek pool deck. The integration of the pool into the existing landscape was achieved with meticulous attention to detail, preserving the property’s character while introducing a contemporary outdoor living space.
The Outcome
The result is a sophisticated pool area that perfectly complements the clients’ country home, offering a tranquil escape and a central hub for outdoor activities. The sleek design, combined with the natural beauty of the surroundings, creates a stunning yet functional space that the family can enjoy year-round.
