Should I apply for planning permission?

In general, you do not require planning permission to install a standard outdoor pool. However, there are certain instances where you may need to get permission from your council before we can start construction. For example, if your property is listed or in an area of outstanding natural beauty, you must obtain planning permission. Similarly, you’ll also need permission if your swimming pool is going to take up more than half of your garden or if it will be overlooked by a public highway or path.
